What was your first job in the tech or VC world?
My first job was at Dropbox as part of their rotation program. It was a great opportunity to get experience working in multiple areas (Growth Product, Finance, etc.) of a fast-growing organization.
What first got you excited about the tech industry?
I’ve always loved technology and gadgets. Growing up I always followed the new phone and app releases and tried to tinker with anything that I could get my hands on. The rate of innovation and imagination is why this industry continues to capture my interest and admiration.
If you got $1B of funding for your own start-up, what kind of company would you start from scratch today?
Event planning and infrastructure. It’s a hyper-local, fragmented puzzle that causes a lot of stress in an otherwise delightful situation. Let’s add more "cupcake" to the experience.
What do you like to do in your free time that does not involve a screen?
I’m always game for a good active activity from running, to biking, the gym or a Barry’s class – although these days it can involve a screen. Outside of that, I love going to concerts and, thanks to Mike, trying (key word) to explore the world of wine.
Diversity and Inclusion is hot topic now. What improvements do you think the industry could make overall?
Make it intentional. Our industry relies a lot on heuristics and softer attributes when evaluating investments. I would love to see structured approaches implemented in our processes to ensure its addressed.
