Uber Freight's Lior Ron on Digital Transformation

We interviewed Lior about this year's theme, Digital Transformation, and what it means for Uber Freight.

Hi Lior! Great to have you on stage at World of Connections. Could you tell us how your industry is being disrupted?

"Thanks! Great to join World of Connections. Uber’s technology has fundamentally changed how people and things move around cities; now we are transforming how goods get to cities with Uber Freight, the Uber for Trucking. For decades, freight shippers and carriers have operated with the same analog tools and manual processes to move goods around the country. Uber Freight is transforming the multi-billion dollar trucking industry by enabling carriers and their drivers to push a button and book a load at an upfront price instead of wasting hours, or even days, negotiating over the phone.

Words like reliability and accessibility have not historically been associated with the freight logistics space.

What do you think is the most groundbreaking effect Digital Transformation will create in your industry?

"Words like reliability, transparency, and accessibility have not historically been associated with the freight logistics space. By creating an on-demand logistics ecosystem, Uber Freight gives shippers direct access to carriers and their drivers, while carriers have direct access to freight to haul. Digital transformations like this will change the relationship between shippers and carriers, allowing them to more efficiently move goods to customers across the country."
